Membership Survey Planned

On November 3, 2018, NCCGAPNA collaborated with CALTCM for the fall CALTCM conference in Sacramento.

Five GAPNA members – Deborah Wolfe-Baker, Debra Bakerjian, Ron Ordona, Jennifer Serafin, and Patty Kenny – were speakers in this conference. The topics discussed by our members were transitioning care, dementia care, managing medications across transitions, and music and memory. All these topics were well received by the audience.

We are developing a membership survey to gather data about membership characteristics in order to use these data to guide us in activities/strategies to enhance membership recruitment and engagement/involvement.

There are 19 questions from which we will try to get information about membership characteristics. It is important for us to learn members’ specialties and interests in order to improve member participation in continuing education activities. Moreover, understanding their expertise can improve future recruitment for guest speakers in continuing education topics for our annual conference.

Members’ input about the strategies to improve new membership recruitment and to improve recognition and visibility of GAPNA and GNPs would be helpful. Understanding the members’ personal/professional needs will help GAPNA find ways to address and meet those needs of the current membership, and can be used as a guide to recruit future members as well. Information about members’ willingness and openness to participate in activities will help plan future chapter events.

We also would like to use the collected data to develop a local chapter directory that will enhance membership engagement, participation, sharing, and learning specialty knowledge among our membership, or even beyond our membership.
