New NICHE Book

Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders

Drawing on leading gerontological nursing experts nationally and internationally, Springer Publishing Company has released a textbook edited by Terry Fulmer and colleagues, “NICHE: Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders.”

This guidebook to the NICHE model provides nurses with the knowledge and skills for delivering best practice in the care of older adults. The model ensures every adult age 65 and older receives care that promotes dignity, autonomy, and function.

NICHE engages frontline practicing nurses and staff, providing the requisite knowledge and skills to work autonomously with full responsibility and authority in complex healthcare systems.

Primarily hospital-based, NICHE currently has a network of over 600 national and international healthcare organizations. The model demonstrates improved clinical outcomes, positive fiscal results, enhanced nursing competencies, community recognition, and greater patient, family, and staff satisfaction.
