New England Chapter

Chapter Awards Annual Scholarship

The New England Chapter is thrilled to announce the winner of its 2019 annual scholarship: Christine Alexandra Bottone. Christine is a graduate student enrolled in the University of Connecticut’s Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program and employed full-time as a RN House Supervisor at Autumn Lake Healthcare in New Britain, CT.

Christine has volunteer, direct patient care, charge nursing, and supervisory/management experience in long-term care facilities. She has experience in community health nursing and nursing outreach education at Chatham Health District in East Hampton, CT.

She is the author of a manuscript discussing an innovative care approach for the full code hospice patient accepted for publication in American Nurse Today and is a co-author for a chapter on menopause for an updated edition of a text for healthcare professionals and students.

Christine holds active memberships in the following professional organizations: CT American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, as well as student memberships in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the New England Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association.

In other chapter news, Michelle DeBest, DNP, APRN-BC, AGCNP, co-authored an article “The Feasibility and Acceptability of Using Virtual World Technology for Interprofessional Education in Palliative Care: A Mixed Methods Study,” which has been accepted for publication by the Journal for Interprofessional Care.
