Deanna Adams, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, GS-C, AGACNP-BC, CEN
Dr. Deanna Adams is a dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), with a deep commitment to advancing the health of older adults and underserved populations. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Texas Christian University, her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and post-master’s certification from the University of Texas at Arlington, and her Bachelor of Science (BS) from Texas Woman’s University.
Dr. Adams is the owner of Adams NP Medical Services, PLLC, where she provides care for patients undergoing dialysis and serves in a rural emergency department in East Texas. She is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Tyler, where she teaches in both the FNP and DNP programs and mentors the next generation of advanced practice nurses.
An active leader in her community and profession, Dr. Adams serves as President of the Thomas Jefferson Rusk Rotary Club and is a Legislative Ambassador for the Texas Nurse Practitioners Association. Nationally, she is the incoming Co-Chair of the Gerontology Special Interest Group (SIG) for the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF).
A dedicated member of the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association (GAPNA) since 2018, Dr. Adams has held several leadership roles, including past Chair of the Acute and Emergent Care SIG and member of the Annual Conference Planning Committee. She currently serves on the Membership Task Force, working to enhance APRN engagement within GAPNA, and contributes to the Acute Care Resource Guide Task Force for both the 2nd and upcoming 3rd editions of Gerontology Resources for APRNs in Acute and Emergent Care Settings.
Dr. Adams’s clinical and academic work is grounded in evidence-based practice, with a focus on dementia awareness and improving care for older adults.
