Obesity has become a health crisis in the United States, leading to serious physical, social, and psychological outcomes.

Nurses are obese in the same proportion as the general population, which may discredit them as role models of and educators for healthful living. In this continuing education article for contact hour credit, the author notes that nurses are more likely to teach patients healthful behavior when they personally embrace and value this lifestyle.
