VA SIG Speaker Presentation Event

On February 15, 2023, the VA SIG had a well-attended Zoom educational presentation by Dr. Marianne Shaughnessy, PhD, AGPCNP-BC, GS-C, FAAN, Director of GRECC Programs. She spoke on the Age-Friendly Spread across VAs. Age-Friendly Health Systems (AFHS) is an important form of VA Whole Health.
VHA has become the largest AFHS in the U.S. Geriatrics and Extended Care (GEC) joined the AFHS movement in March 2020. As of February 2023, 100 VA medical centers have earned recognition from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement in 197 care settings.
GEC has led the first VA Age-Friendly Action Community from October 2022 through April 2023 to adopt the 4Ms framework ( What Matters, Medication, Mentation and Mobility).
