A Productive 2019 and 2020 Goals
by Michelle Lewis
Thanks to the membership of FL-GAPNA, the chapter had a productive 2019.
Our first quarterly meeting of 2019 was held at Port St. Lucie Florida at Tutto Fresco in February. The meeting was sponsored by Astellas. JoAnn Fisher was the speaker and did an excellent job teaching us about overactive bladder and Myrbetriq®. There were 11 attendees.
JoAnn Fisher and Michelle Lewis educated the community on advance directives in May 2019 through our 501c3 nonprofit organization GAPNA OF FLORIDA, INC at Merritt Square Mall in Merritt Island, FL. The event was sponsored by a not-for-profit organization “Let’s Get Them There.” We appreciate the organization’s partnership.
Alero Ekata was elected our new secretary on August 1, 2019. Congratulations Alero!
Mary Nave is our membership chair. She is doing a great job keeping up with our new and renewing members. Chapter membership continues to grow.
Our last quarterly meeting of 2019 was held in October at FMDA’s Annual Best Care Practice Conference held at Universal Studios Lowe’s Sapphire Resort. Twelve nurse practitioners attended.
FL-GAPNA’s third annual $1,500 scholarship was awarded to Damaris Valldeperas, BSN, RN, in November 2019.
Our next dinner meeting will be held in Vero Beach on February 22, 2020.
Chapter goals are to continue membership growth and to mentor new leaders. We look forward to another great conference being held April 24-25, 2020 at Renaissance Orlando Airport Hotel. A total of 8 CEUs will be offered. Register for this event.
