Improving Recruitment and Member Engagement

by Madeline Tam Chow

Northern California had a chapter meeting on April 21, 2018, in Sacramento. Sixteen people attended the meeting and three were from Sacramento. We are projecting to hold the chapter meeting in different locations to improve member engagement and attendance.

We welcome our newly elected new board members, President-elect Ron Ordona and Secretary-elect Julie Dutton. Immediate past president is Deborah Wolff-Baker and immediate past secretary is Patty Kenny.

We thank Deborah and Patty for their hard work and contributions; of course, we also would like to have their continuing support for our chapter.

Madeline Chow, NP, DNP, WCC, gave a presentation on palliative wound care. One hour of continuing education for this presentation was granted for the presentation.

There is an ongoing discussion about getting our own chapter BRN provider number for continuing education. Currently, we are using a BRN provider number for continuing education from UCSF or other BRN provider numbers. The board members find it frustrating to obtain permission to use the provider number in a timely fashion, and secondly, there is the cost of paying the provider for each participant’s CE certificate

We have had ongoing discussion about how to improve member recruitment and membership engagement and the membership survey to gather data about members’ characteristics.
